Late last week, DeLand, Florida, police received a call about a missing three-year-old boy who’d wandered off in the woods behind his home. A large-scale search effort involving all available resources was initiated. Among the responding officers was Corporal Damon Clark and his K-9 partner Midnight.
Working with the scent of the boy from his blanket, Midnight led his handler through the wooded area where the child was last seen. Following Midnight's lead, Clark successfully located the toddler, who was unharmed, and reunited him with his grateful family. The child was gifted a DPD teddy bear as a gesture of goodwill.
The DeLand Police Department praised Corporal Clark, K-9 Midnight, and the other team members involved in the search for their work in locating the toddler. Midnight, who’s trained to search for narcotics and missing persons, has been a valuable asset to the department since 2022, and once again has proven his worth, preventing an unfortunate outcome.
