Tips To Help Moms Stay Calm and Happy

Being a mom is the most amazing gift one can be given but comes with its own stresses. Moms often put others first which leads to them putting their own happiness on the back burner. Keeping mom sane is the best way to keep her happy. Here are a few habits, that MOM.com suggests moms should develop to make sure they stay positive and work their way through the negative.

Stop playing referee for your kids. Of course as parents we do not want our kids to fight and try to mediate as best as we can but they need to be able to work through their problems on their own. This can even save you future stress by not having to intervene the next time they have an altercation.

Mom's need free time too! Make sure that you set aside time for yourself. It is much easier to be calm and happy when you make yourself a priority. Set aside at least 10 minutes a day to sit alone and do what YOU want like reading a book, listening to some music or even just watching some TV.

Come up with consequences for common issues like lying or temper tantrums. Punishing your child when you are angry is usually not the best way to approach a situation. If you have a planned consequence as a ready to go response you can eliminate your own stress by already having a solution. It will also have your kids understand that there are repercussions for their actions and they will know what to expect in the future.

Do not forget about tending to your most basic of needs. Moms usually take care of everyone else before themselves so make sure you eat, sleep and even take a shower. You can only be the best version of yourself if you are taking care of yourself too.

Make sure you have fun! Keeping the kids smiling and running around with mom is fabulous but you need to have fun too! It is important that you make sure you set aside some time without the kids. You cannot keep others happy if you are not happy yourself. Mom's mental well being is important too!
