Couples Who Have Sex Once A Week Are The Happiest

Sex can be a complicated and important part of any intimate relationship. The pandemic has changed many couple's sex lives and not for the better. Stress has been the key factor playing a roll in people's everyday lives which can creep its way into the bedroom as well. When we are not in the best of moods it even harder to get in the "mood."

Research done in 2015 and published in the journal Social Psychology and Personality Science, shows that couples who have sex at least once a week are much happier. Sex therapist, Ian Kerner, says that most couples engage in intercourse with the goal of connecting with each other. He encourages people to start scheduling a weekly "willingness window." This window can be used for being intimate, making out, taking a shower together or even just some time to have fun with one another.

They have found that participating in pressure-free lovemaking that focuses on pleasure, not orgasms can change how you view the activity. Researchers also saw that having sex more than once a week did not add any more satisfaction to the relationship.

Kerner also explains that the type of sex you are having makes a difference. There are three main categories: Recreational, to procreate or to feel connected to your partner. Whatever the reason for your intimacy doesn't matter just don't put too much focus on any type of sex or you can turn the moment into an anxiety ridden activity.

By creating a "willingness window" he explains "It's meant to be something that is scheduled, something that you'll know you'll show up for, because it's important, but also something that's non-pressured and that could actually be fun."
