Singles Are Using The "Belfie" Instead Of The "Selfie"

Dating has changed a lot due to the internet. Many are now joining the online dating scene but finding a match may take a bit more effort than once thought. According to a new survey done by Dating.com, which is the company behind many online dating sites, its revealed that "Belfies" have replaced the traditional "Selfies."

For those of us whom have never heard the term "Belfie," it is essentially a picture of your bottom. That is right, your bottom! This survey suggests that many prospective matches might be more interested in just a snapshot of your face. Maria Sullivan, Vice President & Dating Expert of Dating.com, says that "Belfies are a fun & effective way to keep the spark alive online. While "Seflies" definitely serve their purpose as an introductory form of attraction, "Belfies" are what takes connections to the next level."

In fact, 64% of singles say they have taken at least one picture like this and 36% say they never have but would be willing to try. Women at 51% versus Men at 41%, are more likely to send a "Belfie."

For some people, becoming more familiar with their body and embracing oneself can boost their self-confidence. Actually, 75% of people said that since talking "Belfies" their self-esteem has improved. Compare that to the 40% of people who say that "Selfies" actually help them overcome their insecurities. Having a good relationship with yourself is key to having a good relationship with potential matches.

Conversely, 60% of people believe that taking "Selfies" actually makes them more insecure. Only, 14% of "Belfie" takers say they felt anxious after sending a photo while 59% said they felt anxiety after only sending a "Selfie."

Don't worry the site also shares its tips for taking the perfect photo of your bottom. They say learn your angles, make use of your surroundings and leave a little something to the imagination.

Angles can make a big difference. Most selfies are taken from a higher angle to make the person look leaner but when you want to take a "Belfie" you want to do the opposite. The goal of the "Belfie" is to make the bottom look bigger not smaller.

Take a look around your room. Not only should you be making sure there are no embarrassing items in your photo but a reflective surface can make it much easier to get a shot of your behind.

Leave them wanting more! Keeping on a bit of clothing or covering up in the right way can let the imagination run wild.

Have you ever taken a "Belfie?"
