Something is Missing on Ohio Cars Today

Ohio drivers are no longer required to have a front license plate on their vehicles. A new law kicked in overnight on July 1st, mandating only one license plate must be displayed on the rear bumper of most cars and trucks. The exception is commercial tractors must still have the front plate. The bill was passed by the state legislature and signed by the governor more than a year ago over the objections of law enforcement.

The state says motorists can still request the second plate for the front of their vehicles, but it will cost you an extra $7.50. The current registration fee will drop to $12 from $13.25 saving drivers about $1.25. Ohio is expected to save $1.4 million each year due to the elimination of the front license plates.
