#GoodNews: Good Samaritan, NYPD Save Man From Subway Tracks As Train Nears

A good Samaritan and New York City police officers rescue a man who fell onto the subway tracks. On Thanksgiving day, a 40-year-old man accidentally fell onto the tracks at a subway station in East Harlem. NYPD officers Brunel Victor and Taufique Bokth were conducting a sweep on the other side of the station when other riders told them about the incident.

The officers rushed out of the station, across the street, and back down to get to the victim, arriving to find a good Samaritan already down on the tracks trying to help the man. Victor and Bokth jumped down to the tracks and with the good Samaritan, they were able to lift the man back up onto the platform out of harm’s way.

Then the officers had to also get back up on the platform. With help from other riders, the officers and the good Samaritan climbed back on the platform just moments before a train arrived at the station. The man was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and it’s believed he had a medical issue that caused him to fall on the tracks. The officers and the good Samaritan were later praised for their selfless act by the New York City Police Commissioner and MTA Chairman.
