(Canton) - Greater Cleveland was bypassed by heavy rains Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, but not the Canton area. Two to four inches of rain in that time period have left lots of people stranded, and lots of roads closed.
Jim Sturznickel, who owns a business in North Canton, tells WTAM 1100 he thought the last flood to inundate his building was a 100-year flood. Now, he says "It's five years and we've got it again."
In Louisville, The Canton Repository newspaper reports it's so bad that firefighters in a rubber raft had to rescue people from their apartment building.
Numerous streets and roads in Stark County, especially in the northern part of the county, were closed by flooding.
The National Weather Service says Uniontown recorded 3.8 inches of rain, and the Akron-Canton airport recorded 2.09 inches of rain in just six hours.
