(Youngstown) - Trustees at Youngstown State University have offered the position of University president to former Ohio State University head football coach Jim Tressel.  Friday morning's vote was unanimous.

Tressel, who was head coach for YSU's Penguins before heading to Ohio State, was passed over Thursday for the president's job at the University of Akron, where he is an administrator.

Tressel Tweeted his reponse:

Members of the YSU Board of Trustees will work with Tressel on the specifics of his contract.

He had been recommended by a faculty panel at YSU.  Community leaders in the Youngstown area had pushed for Tressel to be considered, and he eventually formally applied for the job.
