(Cuyahoga County) - Euclid investigators are trying to determine exactly what caused an explosion inside a home on East 193rd Street this morning.
Pearletha Taylor was taking a walk when a blast rocked the house next to hers.
Taylor says she is thankful she wasn't in front of the house when the explosion occurred because she could have been severely injured. The house vacant house was being rehabbed, but Taylor tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, someone stole copper piping about two weeks ago.
Fire crews report a natural gas odor was in the air when they arrived at the scene and saw major damage to the house. The front window was gone, and there was a small fire on the second floor.
Councilwoman Stephana Caviness is thankful no one was hurt, but says the city needs to look at ways to keep residents safe when a vacant house is in the their neighborhood.
