(Cleveland) - Two members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels arrived in Cleveland Wednesday in preparation for the 2014 Cleveland National Air Show presented by Discount Drug Mart on Labor Day Weekend (August 30, 31 & September 1) at Burke Lakefront Airport.

Cleveland is among 35 select U.S. cities chosen to host the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in 2014.

Blue Angel #7 LT Ryan Chamberlain of Bloomington, IL and Blue Angel #8 LCDR Michael Cheng of San Francisco, CA, did a flyover of Burke Lakefront Airport in their F/A-18 Hornet aircraft and landed around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The team members of the elite flying squadron made their advance visit to meet with air show officials and supporting organizations.

Air Show spokeswoman Kim Dell says the pilots will work on the first details of the sumemr classic, gaging flight plans, and ironing out other issues.

Dell tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, “We are delighted to host the U.S. Navy Blue Angels for their winter visit, this is an outstanding way to kick-off the Air Show’s 50th year at Burke Lakefront Airport.”

The Cleveland National Air Show has been Northeast Ohio’s Labor Day Weekend Tradition since 1964, attracting 60,000 to 100,000 visitors to Burke Lakefront Airport, making it one of the region’s largest annual events.

Dell says the Air Show has an annual economic impact of $7.1 million+ on the City of Cleveland.
