(North Ridgeville)  About 2200 to 2700 Columbia Gas customers lost their heat Monday afternoon, just as temperatures plummeted to well below zero.

As of 1:00PM Tuesday, crews were going house to house, restoring service.

Columbia's Ray Frank explained that there was an "interruption of service to a pipeline", and apparently it involved one of the utility's suppliers.

Crews had to shut off gas service, air out the lines, and then go house to house to restore service.

They're asking customers to turn on porch lights.  They're also telling residents without gas to make sure someone has access to their home when crews arrive, as many folks left to find shelter with heat in these bone-chilling temperatures.
