(Avon) – Avon Police have released the 911 call from a fatal shooting Saturday night.

29-year-old Brandon Smith was shot in the head. Police arrested his roommate, 25-year-old Ryan Raider.

According to the woman who called 911, the two “were getting stupid and messing around with a gun.” She told the dispatcher it was an accident and Raider was trying to help Smith.

Note: The 911 call is of a mature nature and emotional. Discretion is advised.

Avon police say they received a 911 call from a female stating that a man had been wounded.

Patrolmen from the Avon, Avon Lake and Sheffield Lake arrived at the residential home, and found Raider leaning over Smith trying to stop the bleeding.

Smith was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center but doctors could not save him.

Police arrested Raider on charges of reckless homicide and using weapons while intoxicated. He's being held in the Lorain County Jail pending his Tuesday arraignment.
